Combining Like Terms


This topic is another side topic, which after being taught is combined into solving even larger equations. In an equation generally combining like terms happens after distributive property (if it is present). Students also seem to get these rules confused with distributive property since they are taught near each other. But you must remember distributive property deals with multiplication and combining like terms deals with adding.

Distributive Property

The distributive property is very simple to perform. It is a side rule within Algebra that will be combined within larger solving equation problems. It is taught on its own first, to show the simplicity of it, before being introduced within an equation.

    Welcome with the switch to the common core curriculum no book is capable of supporting it. This blog is meant to be a tool to help you or your child with math, when you are struggling.I will be posting videos and websites to aid you in learning this year.These resources are meant to help you while completing your homework or studying. They are also meant to be in addition to what is done in the classroom.
      Each blog post represents information for a different math topic. This is to help you find what you need faster. Most of the title topics match the title given during class. If the students write down the titles during class then this blog will be easy to navigate. These topics do represent what is taught during the school year and are a part of the designated curriculum. It will take time to populate the website with all the content needed.
